The White-fronted Chat is endemic to open ground in southern Australia. Somewhat unpredictable in appearance in the Canberra region, the open short grass of the recently planted National Arboretum in Canberra proved to be an attraction to this species. The bright black and white birds are males, females and young birds are duller.
