Sri Lanka Hanging Parrot (Loriculus beryllinus)
…a small species of hanging parrot (Loriculus spp.) which is an endemic resident breeder in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka hanging parrots are birds of open forests, spending almost all of their time in trees, almost never descending to the ground. Unlike some other hanging parrot species, the Sri Lanka hanging parrot is not really gregarious, outside of the breeding season it is typically found alone or in small groups.

This week’s #WeirdBirdOfTheWeek is the Horned Parakeet. It’s only found on New Caledonia, and is classed as Vulnerable, at risk from the bird trade and habitat loss. I 100% did not make it up. It’s my new favorite bird.
