X-Men fans are getting the Sentinels.
Twentieth Century Fox has launched a website for Trask Industries, the company behind the giant purple Sentinel robots that threaten to annihilate the X-Men and other mutants in the Marvel comic books. The robots will be featured in “X-Men Days of Future Past.”
Fans of the superheroes have long wanted the Sentinels to appear in Fox’s film franchise and will finally get their wish in the seventh film, out May 23, 2014.
Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965, the robots were created to locate mutants and capture or kill them. In the comic books, the Sentinels are three-stories high, have the ability to fly and project energy blasts from their hands. A Sentinel head was briefly seen in the beginning of “X-Men: The Last Stand” (see below).
Fox promoted Trask Industries at Comic-Con this month in San Diego, giving away anti-mutant campaign posters from the fictional company that showcase the robots. An updated version of the classic Sentinel design, which appears in the film, was also on display.
Now the studio has launched an elaborate website for Trask-Industries.com to give more background on the company and history of the Sentinel program, headed by Bolivar Trask, played by Peter Dinklage in the film. A video for the program was also released.

According to the website: “In 1973, Trask Industries introduced the first Sentinel production model, the Mark I. Bolivar Trask’s groundbreaking research in AI, robotics and autonomous ballistic systems laid the foundation for the world’s most capable anti-mutant defense system. Since the program’s inception, we’ve continued to advance our founder’s cause through eight additional generational upgrades and enhancements.
“As we celebrate five decades of achievement, we also bid farewell to regular production of the Mark I and shift our efforts to full-time manufacturing of the Mark X — our first complete overhaul of the Sentinel line. These highly anticipated units will combine next-generation nanotechnology and bioweapon breakthroughs, promising an even brighter future for the human race.”
Bryan Singer helms “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” uniting much of the cast of the first three “X-Men” films and the newer actors of “X-Men: First Class,” including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Halle Berry. The actors appeared on Fox’s panel for the film, along with series newcomers Dinklage, Omar Sy and Evan Peters.
The director revealed a full-sze version of the film’s Sentinels on Aug. 1.
