Misha Collins has lined up his next TV role, and this one’s no angel.
The Supernatural vet will play Harvey Dent (aka villain Two-Face) in The CW‘s Gotham Knights pilot.
Collins broke the news himself on Twitter Wednesday morning, alongside a photo of Aaron Eckhart’s iteration of Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight. “I’ve asked if my version of the character could be wearing a beige trench coat over the grey suit. (I’m just not sure I’ll be comfortable in front of a camera without one.),” Collins wrote, referencing the usual ensemble of his Supernatural character, Castiel.
Gotham Knights, which scored a pilot order at The CW in February, takes place in the wake of Bruce Wayne’s murder, with his (as-yet-unspecified) rebellious adopted son forging an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies… when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader. Now branded the city’s most wanted criminals, this “renegade band of misfits must fight to clear their names — but in a Gotham with no Dark Knight to protect it, the city descends into the most dangerous it’s ever been,” per the official logline. But this team of mismatched fugitives will become Gotham’s next generation of saviors, known as the Gotham Knights.
Chad Fiveash and James Stoteraux (both of Batwoman and Gotham) wrote the pilot with Natalie Abrams (Batwoman), but Gotham Knights is not a Batwoman spinoff.
Gotham Knights will mark Collins’ first post-Supernatural TV acting gig, after playing Castiel for 12 of the drama’s 15 seasons. The pilot’s cast also includes Olivia Rose Keegan (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series), Navia Robinson (Raven’s Home), Oscar Morgan (the U.K.’s Warren) and relative newcomers Fallon Smythe and Tyler DiChiara.
This show is going to be so good!
What would make this show even better if they can somehow get jensen ackels to play Jason Todd/Red hood and jared padalecki to Dick grayson/nightwing but highly doubtful due to their schedules with the boys and walker
I can see Jensen doing a guest spot. The Boys is a shorter series so it may be easier for him. Especially if the filming schedules allow it. Jared i’m not sure about since he’s already on another CW show. The network may not what him to appear on another show at the same time as his show is on the air. But I agree. It would be great to see him on the show. I would only want a guest spot or like a 2 to 3 episode arc.
LMAO Never change, Supernatural fans. Never change,
To be fair, Jensen does have a “secret DC project” he’s involved in. It’s not a far leap
We already have a perfect Jason Todd on tv, and Jensen is way too old if this is supposed to be about the young heroes of Gotham.
There’s lots of other characters I’m sure he could play, and whose to say for sure he’ll be in front of the camera anyway?
We can’t help it!
Supernatural is … sigh.
Won’t you join us?
Ya gotta BELIEVE!
Hahaha! 😂👍🏻
That made me chuckle. Love Jensen & Jared and will watch pretty much anything they’re in but they’ve well & truly aged out of playing Jason Todd & Dick Grayson, unless you’re thinking of a comedy take on the ‘Robins’ :D
I don’t agree at all. Keep the SPN fanfic on Ao3; DC tv shows should be about DC characters. (I’m not some kind of DC superfan, I just do not think tv shows should, in general, be glorified reunions when it comes to the lead characters. Esp when it hasn’t even been that long, it’s distracting and silly.)
(I will say that Arrow being a Spartacus reunion show was fine, I loved it, even–but it wasn’t the leads going on to be the leads together again. Sure, I would have liked Manu and Cynthia to have scenes but…it’s kinda like when Ben Browder and Claudia Black were on Stargate and Claudia had to tell producers that when Vala imaged a Farscape-like tv show for herself that HER version of Crichton would be “played” by Michael/Daniel not NOT Ben/Mitchell. Because Mitchell’s not Vala’s love interest on THIS show. Because *it’s a different show*.
And SG1 was a far more bonkers show than I’m sure Gotham Knights will be…)
It’s not his first “post supernatural tv gig”. He had a PBS show called Road Food.
I just listened to Misha on a podcast this morning and he said he was taking time off, but this is great news! Glad he has a new gig.
I know this show is about the kids of villains and heroes so will the Misha still be a series regular?
He mentioned it was a two-year commitment ao I’m guessing he’s a regular, yeah.
Did I miss the date?
Just a pilot. –Mgmt.
Makes me more excited to try this! He’s got a lovely energy and I enjoy watching him
Omg, Misha is going to be an amazing Dent. I’ve wanted to see him play a villain ever since Leviathan!Cas – he absolutely knocked it out of the park! Wasn’t planning on watching this one but I definitely will now.
The Gotham shows have run it’s course just like the arrow verse.
now I have a reason to watch this show
Oh, the CW is good enough for his fans now, I see.
Interesting… sounds like a good casting call.
Too bad this is on the CW. Early seasons of Arrow and Flash have been the only DC series they haven’t totally screwed up.
I was excited about the show when I thought it was going to feature Dick Grayson, Jason Todd or one of the many fan favorites characters from the comics who Batman has adopted. But after hearing it’s an original character created for this show it really cooled my interest in it. I might give it a watch just to catch Misha though.
