Jeremy Irons Hasn’t Seen ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ But Says “It Couldn’t Have Been Worse” Than Joss Whedon’s Version

Jeremy Irons has experienced a decades-long acting career in Hollywood. Over those years, he’s been in a number of excellent films. And obviously, you can’t work in the industry over that long of a period of time without acting in a few stinkers, also. According to Irons, one of those films is definitely Joss Whedon’s 2017 cut of “Justice League.”

Speaking to Variety, while promoting his new film, “Munich: The Edge of War,” Jeremy Irons took the time to talk about “Justice League” and admit that he hasn’t yet seen “Zack Snyder’s Justice League,” which was released in last year, despite playing Batman’s butler, Alfred, in the feature. But even though he hasn’t seen the film, he’s definitely sure that Snyder’s version has to be better than what Whedon did.

“Strangely, I think I have it and I haven’t seen it,” said Irons about the Snyder Cut. “I shall have to hunt it out and see if I have it somewhere online or on a DVD. I remember talking to Zack [Snyder] before he did it and being very interested to see what he came up with. It couldn’t have been worse.”

Couldn’t have been worse, you say? Obviously, he’s speaking about the original “Justice League” cut that was released in 2017, which was primarily reshot under the eye of Joss Whedon and is generally viewed as a pretty terrible film.

When the interviewer goes for clarification about the comment and says that he believes “Justice League” is a “dreadful” film, Irons agreed and said, “Well, so did I.”

While it’s never fun to talk badly about a film and to shit all over it because there are a lot of people who worked really hard to make the finished project, it seems to be particularly okay to talk ill of Joss Whedon’s version of “Justice League.” By most accounts, it was a horrible experience to work on, and while you may have issues with Zack Snyder’s version of the DC superheroes, it’s almost inarguable to say that “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” is a worse film than what Whedon produced. So yeah, go right ahead and talk badly about the film, Mr. Irons. You’ve definitely earned it.
