in #review7 years ago (edited)

Hey guys, Todays Anime Review is a really special one. First of all, thank you guys for all the support and comments you are writing me, it's a real pleasure for me to read every single one of them.

Today's Anime is Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood which is the number one on my all-time favorites. I can't even fully describe how this anime shaped me and how awesome it truly is. Without further ado let's get right into reviewing this masterpiece.

Story:

"In order for something to be obtained, something of equal value must be lost."

Alchemy is bound by this Law of Equivalent Exchange—something the young brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric only realize after attempting human transmutation: the one forbidden act of alchemy. They pay a terrible price for their transgression—Edward loses his left leg, Alphonse his physical body. It is only by the desperate sacrifice of Edward's right arm that he is able to affix Alphonse's soul to a suit of armor. Devastated and alone, it is the hope that they would both eventually return to their original bodies that gives Edward the inspiration to obtain metal limbs called "automail" and become a state alchemist, the Fullmetal Alchemist.

Three years of searching later, the brothers seek the Philosopher's Stone, a mythical relic that allows an alchemist to overcome the Law of Equivalent Exchange. Even with military allies Colonel Roy Mustang, Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye, and Lieutenant Colonel Maes Hughes on their side, the brothers find themselves caught up in a nationwide conspiracy that leads them not only to the true nature of the elusive Philosopher's Stone but their country's murky history as well. In between finding a serial killer and racing against time, Edward and Alphonse must ask themselves if what they are doing will make them human again... or take away their humanity.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is an alternate retelling of Hiromu Arakawa's Fullmetal Alchemist manga that is closer to the source material than the previous 2003 adaptation, this time covering the entire story.

Characters:

The Original adaptation of Fullmetal alchemist focuses more on the main protagonist Al and Ed, whereas the new Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood does a great job in exploring the other characters as well. The development of characters of the two protagonists happens very gradually, but you will see how much each of the protagonists has grown by the end of the series. Every Character in the Anime is very unique and has his own view on the world of alchemy. The Quality and the detail that each character has is the most amazing one I've ever seen in any book, movie or anything else. The Scriptwriters did an amazing job to make every single character so fantastic that they really seem human like with different sets of emotions and reactions.

There is just soo many characters in the Anime that you will get to know that I can't really talk about anyone in particular. Just watch the Anime yourself and you will see how much you will fall in love with certain characters.

Art and Animation:

The Animations of the Anime are really well made most of the times, with a few dips in quality for one or two episodes in a row but that is to be expected. The action is all stunning, the openings gorgeous, the backgrounds consistent and unique, building a sense of a real lived-in world. The character design is awesome and every character looks different with different facial expressions. There are some times when the Anime switches from serious to funny Art which will show a 2D version of the characters to make the scene funnier. This is a part that most of the Fullmetal Alchemist Fans criticize about the Art style of the Anime, but I think that it makes the Anime a little bit different from most of the other Animes and It doesn't really bother me that much. The action scenes are brilliant and VERY well animated, with a variety of alchemy techniques and other talents being displayed nearly every episode. The various battles are consistently exciting to watch, but somehow get even better towards the end of the series.

Overall:

The Best thing about this Anime is that there is not a single episode of filler in the whole series. All of the episodes are well made and every scene of the Anime contributes to the huge plot. The Side stories in the Anime are greatly intervened with the main plot and will not bore you. I was constantly gripped by the plot and really feel the need to watch just another episode of this masterpiece. The best thing is that I actually watched the opening and the ending of the Anime - It's just this well made and I normally skip the shit out of any opening or ending. It's enjoyable, it's engaging, it will definitely give you plenty to think about.

Fullmetal Alchemist is a masterpiece and should be watched by everyone that calls himself a anime Enthusiast.
