In Turkish TV programmes, there are generally two stereotyped families. The first ones are poor family and the second one is rich family. The one that I chose is about a poor family and a rich boy. I choose this TV-series because it is a good example of one of the family type in Turkey.

In Adını Feriha Koydum there is a poor girl called Feriha and a rich boy called Emir. Feriha’s family lives in the basement of an apartment and they hardly find money to buy food.Also, Feriha wears dresses which her neighbor gave her.As the opposite of her family Emir’s family is very rich, he has got luxury homes and cars. They’re going to the same university but Feriha has a scholarship. They met at the university and fall in love at there. At first, Feriha introduces herself to Emir as a rich girl but after a time the truth is coming out and Emir broke up with her because of Feriha’s lie and poorness. After they make up they couldn’t find a way to explain the situation to their families. Because of the socioeconomic bias of their families.

In this case, we can see the rection of the rich person to the poor one and this is a very typical attitude in society. This negative bias is mostly seen on TV-series because it is real in Turkey and people loves to see what they don’t have.Also, most this kind of series the rich families are disconnected family relations and poor families has a lovely family as same as Adını Feriha Koydum.
