The bird life on Rajwera Farm is extremely rich, to date we have identified over 100 different species from familiar friends such as the Helmeted Guineafowl (Numida meleagris), to less common migrant visitors such as Steppe Eagles (Aquila nipalensis). What initially started as a hobby is turning into a more systematic review of bird biodiversity, as we continue to actively reckon with the responsibility and opportunities presented by farming while fostering a healthy ecosystem.

Bird biodiversity is a good indicator of ecosystem health, both on a local and global scale, as such there is value in monitoring the bird life on the farm. This information will become especially critical as climate change increasingly shifts the existing patterns of distribution and migration.

We will continue to monitor and share updates, but in the meantime we welcome anyone interested in this information or in partnering with us to monitor and promote bird biodiversity to get in touch!
