Description
Hume's wheatear (Oenanthe albonigra) is a species of bird in the family Muscicapidae. It is found in Afghanistan, Bahrain, India, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. The name commemorates the British naturalist Allan Octavian Hume, who worked in India.

Feeding Habits
Hume's Wheatear primarily feeds on invertebrates, such as beetles and ants, as well as small lizards, and seeds. Foraging behaviors include both a 'bound-and-grab' technique on the ground and a 'perch-and-pounce' method from elevated positions; also engages in aerial sallies. Hume's Wheatear is territorial, defending its feeding grounds year-round.
Habitat
The habitat of hume's Wheatear encompasses rocky desert mountainsides, steep valleys, and foothill slopes. This bird favors environments with significant geological features such as boulders and rubble, often near barren hills with minimal vegetation. It is adapted to survive in areas with scattered shrubs and can sometimes be found in open oak woodlands and sparse acacia parklands, favoring arid to semi-arid conditions.
