Habitat: This Antvireo species can be found in lower growth of humid forest in foothills and lower highlands. Distribution: This species has been reported from southeastern Mexico to northern Bolivia, Paraguay, northeastern Argentina and southern Brazil. Natural History Notes: The Plain Antvireo can be usually found in pairs and will forage at different tree levels. Its diet mainly consists of insects and arthropods. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a resident species. Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 10.8 cm and 11.4 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a heavy and slightly decurved black bill. The male has a dark olive plumage with a darker coloration on the crown and the cheeks.
