Miley Cyrus celebrates 10-year anniversary of bong video

Time flies in a cloud of smoke.

Miley Cyrus, 28, celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the now-infamous video of her smoking a bong with some friends by re-sharing the footage via social media Sunday.

“Happy 10 year anniversary to the groundbreaking video of a teenager smoking a bong & saying dumb s–t to their friends. (Not sure the director of this fine film should be considered a “friend” but…) 🎈💨🖤🎈💨🖤🎈💨🖤” she captioned the video.

“Time really flew by. I remember this like it was yesterday….. J/K I don’t remember s–t cause I was f–ked the hell up.”

She added, “#YesItWasReallySalvia #IfYouFindWeedThatDoesThisToYouSHARE,” confirming the substance she was smoking at the time was the hallucinogenic sage plant salvia.

TMZ publishing the video at the time launched the biggest controversy in Cyrus’ then-Disney career. Prior to that, she made headlines for her nearly nude Vanity Fair cover shoot.

Her father and “Hannah Montana” co-star, Billy Ray Cyrus, tweeted following the drug scandal, “Sorry guys. I had no idea. Just saw this stuff for the first time myself. Im so sad [sic]. There is much beyond my control right now.”

The “Party in the U.S.A.” singer later apologized for the ordeal, telling Marie Claire, “I’m not perfect … I made a mistake … I’m disappointed in myself for disappointing my fans …”

Years — and multiple public personas later — Cyrus stopped apologizing for her marijuana use and said to Rolling Stone it was the “best drug on earth.” In June 2020, however, she revealed she was six months sober.
