T.R. Knight Cites Lack of Fulfillment as Reason For Leaving ‘Grey’s’

His on-screen relationship with Katherine Heigl’s Izzie and lack of screen presence for the first chunk of last season were the final two reasons that pushed T.R. Knight out “Grey’s Anatomy’s” door.

“There are a lot of people who would like to be in my position,” Knight says in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly. “But in the end, I need to be fulfilled in my work.”

The actor, who was seen on screen for a total of only 48 minutes during season 5’s first nine episodes (compared to 114 for Sandra Oh’s Christina), disagreed with George’s storyline to cheat on wife Callie (Sara Ramirez) with Izzie — played by real-life friend Heigl — and takes swipes at creator Shonda Rhimes.

“My five-year experience proved to me that I could not trust any answer that was given [about George],” says Knight. “And with respect, I’m going to leave it at that.” Read more here.
