Ryan Gosling’s wife Eva Mendes is celebrating his Oscars 2024 nomination in the best possible way and addressing all the hate he initially received for playing Ken.

On Tuesday, Ryan Gosling, who turned Ken into a beloved character across the globe received a Best Supporting Actor Oscars nomination. However, it was a bittersweet moment for the Barbie team as director Greta Gerwig as well as Margot Robbie who played the leading role of Barbie was snubbed from the Academy Awards nominations in Best Director and Best Actress in a Leading Role categories.

Now, American actress and wife of Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendes is showing support for her husband’s Oscars-nominated work.

Mendes took to her official Instagram account and shared a carousel post of a story published by Rolling Stone in June 2022 and called out #Notmyken criticism. “Sorry to Be the One to Say It, but Ryan Gosling Is Giving Major Cringe as Ken in ‘Barbie.’,” the article’s headline read.

“So proud of my man. So much hate when he took on this role,” the actress wrote. “So many people trying to shame him for doing it. Despite all the #Notmyken ridicule and articles written about him, he created this completely original, hilarious, heartbreaking, now iconic character and took it all the way to Oscars,” Mendes cheered for Ryan. “So beyond proud to be this Ken’s Barbie,” she concluded.

After the actress expressed her love and support for Ryan Gosling, her comments section was flooded with several positive comments. “He is brilliant as Ken!” America Ferrera, who played Gloria in the Barbie movie wrote. “He is a class act and insanely deserving and talented,” the actress praised her co-star.

After the 2024 Oscars nominations came through, the La La Land actor released an official statement saying he is “honored” but also “disappointed” by Gerwig and Robbie’s Oscar snubs.
