Zack and Miri, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Step Brothers, Strange Wilderness, and Tropic Thunder.
Just banger after banger, they don’t make comedies like this anymore.
Clerks is probably Kevin Smith at his best, but this is my personal favorite.
There is no other rom com like it.
Not only is it original and unique but it’s absolutely hilarious.

Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks are perfect as the leads.

This is one of my favorite rom-coms. Over the last few days a lot of people I follow here logged it and it made me rewatch it and it's just delightful. And I'll say it again - there's nothing wrong with Seth Rogen playing love interests to those sexy women. He is always so likable in those comedies and he plays genuinely good, caring guys. There’s an alternate timeline in which it grossed all the money in the world and Kevin Smith maintained access to thousands of screens on which to pair hard emotions with genuinely audacious, transgressive comedy. As it stands, this and Clerks II are delightful reminders of what could have been. I’d be first in line for Zack and Miri Make a Baby.
Kevin's attempt to sort of go back to his own underdog slacker filmmaking roots by having his characters make a porn film under the same circumstances one imagines he made Clerks. The version of this that's actually kind of ramshackle or taboo might've been one of his stronger movies but unfortunately, he also made this the movie where he tried to cash in on the Apatow studio romcom formula and the two modes don't really blend well together and all we're left with is a strangely polished version of his "potty mouth" sentimentality (Ebert's loving description of Smith's writing) that gets tired pretty fast.
