Thank heavens Found Footage has more to offer than haunted asylums, braindead twentysomethings and boring trips to the woods. Triangle is an astute mix of slow-burn narrative, character-driven drama and X-Files-ish mystery, adorned with clever soundscapes in proper doses, split screens and crystal clear shots.
It opens with a road trip into the unknown — four documentarians head off to a new-age commune in the middle of nowhere. Gradually, it becomes clear that the neo hippie cult holds a sinister secret. What could have easily been a dreamy, romantic rehash of Martha Marcy May Marlene and The Sacrament instead gravitates to something more mysterious…
