Sakura Kurumi, Erika's mother, is preparing for a fashion show in Paris. The girls of the school's fashion club are going to model there, including some high school students. While in Paris, they meet a mysterious boy named Oliver. However, Baron Salamander of the Desert Apostles appears, and the girls transform into Pretty Cures to defend Paris.

Arguably the most mature film in the franchise up to this point, if only for how they finally toned down their fairy sidekicks but also had a surprisingly fleshed out villain. Cure Sunshine talking about her gender identity struggles was such a big mood alone.

Very not my thing so can't be too disappointed here. I do like the color vomit that's going on here, just throwing every color in existence my way is always something I'll enjoy, and I appreciate the general nonchalance regarding the end of the world. It's nice to have a film that knows that it's all gonna be okay and the world's not gonna end, so it can mess around and have fun with itself. Still, that's not nearly enough to get over the fact that none of this really interests me. I have no investment in these characters or in this world so I'm unable to meaningfully engage with any of it. Not bad, just generally disinterested.

Are you? What if the next moment it all goes to shit and you have allowed yourself to smile and relax and forget about how disaster is always around the corner?? I felt the struggle there. Poor Olivier who has never done anything wrong in his life!! I don't accept objections.

I really liked this lil film, very colorful with a lot of heart and care about the characters. Will try to watch more of them in the future, hopefully I can figure out the order!
I will be honest, I watched this purely for Rie Matsumoto, with no pre-existing experience with precure, I imagine that would have helped, but I had a blast with this nevertheless.
This film is kind of cheesy, a bit predictable, everything is obviously going to turn out OK, and it’s the power of love and friendship stuff we have seen time and time again. But hey, good execution can give something simpler or even arguably cliché plenty of charm and expression to push emotions, and if anyone has good execution it’s Rie Matsumoto, even here in her directorial debut.

I always try to write funny and haha-worthy reviews for the Precure movies. However I don't think anything can top the fact that the movie starts with Itsuki saying "Everything looks so French here" while they enjoy a vacation in Paris.
The platonic ideal of a fun low stakes side movie for an anime. Pretty cleverly plotted, all the main characters get to shine and show off their personalities in ways that help advance its emotional core (though part of me think Itsuki and Olivier’s bond would’ve been more interesting to focus on).
The change in scenery is great, all the fun outfits and cinematic flourishes add a lot of charm, it’s just a damn good time.
The Heartcatch Precure! Movie is absolutely gorgeous in no small part due to the crispness of the upgraded facial expressions, transformation sequences and action sequences which are all so impeccable when translated to the silver screen, and the picturesque layouts of the Parisian skyline and flashback sequence frames evocative of frescos depicting otherworldly yet serene events beneath the abbey on Mont-Saint Michel (Baron Salamander's base of operations and the main locale for the film's climactic setpieces) are all pure works of art. Not to mention that the heart-pulsing action, the sheer vastness of the commune's underground and the alleyways of Paris are complimented as strongly by the lime plaster textured scenes as they are by the projections on a grand…
I have come to learn some crucial things about myself. In an attempt to deny who I am, for many years I didn’t allow myself to enjoy things like anime or girly type media. In fact I leaned so heavily in the other direction that at one point in time, for too many years, A Ghost Story held the title of being my favourite movie of all time. Watching one last movie this year, glad to have chosen this one. Very heartfelt, loved seeing how the characters developed since the beginning of the show. Always great to see the girls in action again! Definitely one of my favorites from the franchise!
