It's easy to appreciate Adam Sandler's continued interest in his characters being able to infiltrate upper class spaces and transform them, to function as both the wild underdog and the lovable hero. But it's just as easy to watch Bob Barker beat up Happy. "The price is wrong, bitch!"
Happy Gilmore has to be one the dumbest, most nonsensical movies I've ever seen. Yet, there's a good-natured spirit and sense of creativity to this film that most of Adam Sandler's projects haven't had for well over a decade. Plus the cast is funny, the characters are likable and it doesn't overstay its' welcome with a short runtime of 92 minutes. The very definition of an enjoyable, goofball comedy.
As for as Adam Sandler's silly comedies go, Happy Gilmore remains his finest outing!

Confession time: I’ve never seen this movie until today.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been aware of its existence, and I’ve seen a few clips like the Barker fight and Sandler yelling at the ball. But for whatever reason, this has been one that never aired on TV when I was a kid or ever crossed my way in the video store (and I always checked every shelf at least five times). Funnily enough, I rented or watched Billy Madison countless times, dubbed or in its original version.
