Eliminators is the type of Scott Adkins flick this super fan craves. Scott's front and center, kicking ass and taking names. Not a glorified blink and you miss MCU cameo, (Doctor Strange) a product of Chinese propaganda (Wolf Warrior) or a gone way too soon supporting role. (Jarhead 3)
What impressed me the most was the natural acting ability of Stu Bennett. You might know him as former WWE Superstar, Wade Barrett. Stu plays the heel, I mean bad guy assassin, spot-on scary. At the end, during the credits, I noticed it said "The name Wade Barrett is owned by the WWE." I want to tell Mr Bennett you don't need the name to be a superstar in my eyes. …

As part of my Scott Adkins kick, I came across this video on Prime. In a way, the plot is derivative of classic concepts such as the retired special force agent who must fight to erase the powers that want to take him down after he retires, and is haunted by his past.
Adkins is supposed to play an American, but he completely failed to hide his thick British accent. Despite that decision and failure to speak like a gringo, he still delivered and I would argue this is probably some of the best acting he or anyone else in any of his movies has ever done. We all know Scott Adkins is the man, so Eliminator’s real surprise for me was its great showcase of Stu Bennett. As the film’s hitman Terminator, he’s a towering implacable threat, radiating craggy bulldog menace whose silence and physique contrasts perfectly with Adkins.
The other surprise was of course that Eliminators is top-tier Adkins ass-kicking that I rarely seen anyone talk about, even among action circles. Sure, there isn’t an original bone in its body, assembled from History of Violence, Terminator, Taken, among others, and the ending fizzles out because the whole daughter subplot is weak as hell. But James Nunn understands what his movie’s strengths are and provides a propulsive no-bullshit stage for Tim Man’s action direction.

My Friday night reward is to get in a Scott Adkins film (still have a bit more to go) after a very annoying and long week of work.

A good Scott Adkins feature. He plays an ex-federal agent that was relocated under the witness protection program, living an unassuming life in London until an unforeseen happenstance exposes him and his daughter to his past enemies. The ingredients are all there and used like it was read from a popular recipe, but the cooks successfully manage to make it delectable thanks in part to Adkins, its tense pacing, and a surprisingly strong performance from Wade Barrett as the Terminator-esque hitman.

On the pleasures of watching Scott Adkins kicking people. A british WWE feature opposing Adkins and brit wrestler Wade Barrett. It has a little too much overcomplicated back story that contrasts with the relative simple race to trying to make to Adkins daughter before the bad guys plot. Well staged fights (by Tim Man who had previous worked with Adkins in Ninja 2), director James Nunn knows how to just let the physical action speak without getting in the way and he uses location well. Both Adkins and Barret are quite good. I'd be okay if WWE makes an annual let's allow Scott Adkins to kick one of our contract fighters feature.
When it comes to these kinds of DTV actioners, I generally go into them with pretty low expectations and want only to see some decent action so with Eliminators, I was quite pleasantly surprised to find myself actually quite liking it. Now, this is a fairly standard film in Scott Adkins' oeuvre as it's basically just a lean action vehicle with some well-executed fights and nothing more but the familiar formula is done pretty well here and it's definitely one of the better films from him I've seen. You know, whenever I hear that Scott Adkins has a new movie, I got excited! I love the guy, and Im really looking forward to his movies, especially if I have a feeling that the film could be good. And I had a great feeling about ELIMINATORS. It was WWE Studios production (and I enjoyed most of their movies), with James Nunn in directors chair (and he did a really solid job on one of Adkins' previous vehicles, GREEN STREET 3: NEVER BACK DOWN), and with London locations (that are certainly better looking and more attractive than Bulgarian locations). Solid action as expected with James Nunn and Tim Man, making it all the more unfortunate that the script is utterly lifeless. Scott Adkins is good, though.
