  • Conifer, evergreen tree, the small angle of the upright branches forms a dense, narrow pyramidal shape, it grows at about 15 inches (35 cm) per year and may reach 25 ft high and 12 ft wide (7.6 x 3.4 m) when mature.  The soft needles are positioned close to the branchlets.  Foliage is bright green in spring and bronze-purple in winter.
  • Sun to light shade, average to well-drained garden soil, even soil moisture 
  • USDA Zone 6  Apparently it was propagated from a witch's broom on a specimen of Cryptomeria japonica 'Lobbii.'  John Vermeulen & Sons nursery of New Jersey is credited with the origin and introduction of this selection in the mid 1970s.
