Remington Steele Named Associate Head Coach of Limestone Women's Lacrosse

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Limestone College women's lacrosse team and Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Scott Tucker have officially announced the hire of Remington Steele as Associate Head Coach for the upcoming 2020 season. Steele will serve as offensive coordinator, goalie coach and recruiting coordinator for the Saints, and will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of the program.

A 2012 Limestone graduate, Steele was a former goalie of the men's lacrosse team before serving as Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach for the Saints during the 2013 and 2014 seasons, a two-year period in which Limestone went 38-3 overall and finished as a NCAA Division II National Championship Runner Up.

Steele returns to his alma mater after serving the last three years as Head Women's Lacrosse Coach at Bucknell University, a Division I program. Responsible for all the various duties of a head coach at the NCAA's highest rank, his strong recruiting prowess helped Bucknell land three top-100 recruits during his final season, as well as the No. 21 graded class in the nation as a whole, as ranked by Inside Lacrosse.

A fast-rising coach in both the collegiate and international ranks, Steele currently serves as head coach for the Welsh Senior Women's National Team ranked No. 5 in the World Rankings. Steele led Welsh to a bronze medal at the 2019 World Championships just one year ago, his fifth with the team. Having coached overseas since 2013, he also sat at the helm of the New Zealand U-19 Women's National Team from 2013-2015, propelling his team to a fifth-place finish in the 2015 FIL U-19 World Cup, the highest-ever finish by a New Zealand team at an international event.

Back in the states, Steele also manned assistant coach positions at two different Division I universities prior to his time as Bucknell. A defensive coordinator with a specialty towards overseeing goalies, Steele implemented defensive schemes, pre-game scouting reports and game plans at University of Vermont for three seasons before taking over as first assistant and recruiting coordinator for Furman University.

An active presence in the women's lacrosse community as a whole, Steele currently serves on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Open Video Exchange Committee as well as the IWLCA Division I All-American Committee.
