Family: GnomoniaceaeGenus: Apiognomonia
SUMMARY
Anamorph: conidiomata acervular, on large brown leaf spots on living leaves; 130-230 µm diam., irregular in shape and often angular, the upper wall dark brown, opening by irregular splits. Conidiophores absent. Conidiogenous cells lining the lower wall of the conidioma, developing from small brown angular cells; 9-14 x 3.5-6 µm, irregular in form due to the development of secondary conidiogenous loci but usually cylindrical to ampulliform, the apex somewhat attenuated, proliferating percurrently with periclinal thickening and small collarettes. Conidia 9-12 x 4-5.5 µm, ellipsoidal, aseptate, hyaline, smooth- and thin-walled, without a gelatinous sheath or appendages.
Teleomorph: ascomata 140-180(-275) µm diam., necks 40-120 µm long and 20-30 µm wide near the base. Peridium 12-18 µm thick. Asci 35-51 x 8-12 µm. Ascospores 12.5-17.5 x 3.5-5.5 µm, septum dividing the spore 4:1 to 6:1, the upper cell is the larger.
