Dusky-headed Parakeet (Aratinga weddellii)

Dusky-headed Parakeet (Aratinga weddellii)
Perched appropriately in the mistletoe Psittacanthus (parrot flower), this parakeet is restricted to the western part of the Amazon basin where it inhabits river edges. A small introduced population survives near Lima. This species generally avoids "terra firma" forests and, unlike most species, this one appears to benefit from clearing and fragmentation of the forest. Canon PowerShot SX60 HS.
