1950 Wurlitzer 1250

1950 Wurlitzer 1250 - Wurlitzer & Co

1949 was a year of transition at Wurlitzer. With the departure of Paul Fuller an era had ended and at the same time vinyl records eventually succeeded the old shellacs, which made a change in jukebox technology inevitable. Seeburg was leading the way and Wurlitzer found themselves under pressure to catch up. 1949 was a year of transition for Wurlitzer und the first year without a new model. For 1950 the Wurlitzer 1250 was presented, which marked a new era for the company, also from a design point of view.

The Wurlitzer 1250 could play both, 7-inch and 10-inch records and thanks to the Adapta Speed Changer it could easily be switched between 33 1/3, 45 and 78 rpm. It offered a selection of 48 songs, played from both sides of 24 records.

Despite its hefty price tag of $795.50 (a new Volkswagen at that time was $1,280.00) it sold almost 13,000 times.

This example has visibly been restored and converted to 220V in the past and still presents itself in beautiful cosmetical condition. However, we have not tried if it works and therefore it will be strictly sold as is, without any guarantee for functionality.
