Rizzoli and Isles’ upcoming seventh season will be its last, TNT boss Kevin Reilly announced at the Television Critics Association’s press tour on Thursday.

“That will be the final season,” Reilly said. “I think both ladies have had a really satisfying experience. I don’t know that they wouldn’t do anymore, but I think they felt very comfortable that it’s had a good run. It felt like it was time. Everyone said, ‘Let’s go out and finish 13 great ones and call it a day.’ “

In July, the Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander-starring crime procedural was picked up for a shortened 13-episode seventh season. Though Rizzoli & Isles is a strong performer for the network — the sixth season averaged 11.1 million viewers across all platforms — Reilly is moving the network toward darker fare such as Chad Hodge’s Good Behavior, Cary Funkunaga’s Alienist, and John Wells’ Animal Kingdom.

The news comes on the heels of cancellations for other TNT series Public Morals, Agent X, and Legends.

Rizzoli & Isles is expected to return this summer on TNT.
