Steven Seagal sworn in for border patrol

Steven Seagal is no longer Above the Law. He is the law. (By the way, how is that not the tagline for the action-star-turned-sheriff's A&E series Steven Seagal: Lawman?)

The 59-year-old, who has been a fully commissioned deputy with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office in Louisiana for 20 years, will now reportedly use his skills (he also has a 7th-degree black belt in Aikido) to work border control in Texas. (That's right, Chuck Norris, he's officially on your turf! Fight! Fight! Fight!)

According to the San Antonio Express, Seagal "was sworn in this week as the Hudspeth County Sheriff's Office newest deputy. The sheriff's office said he'll be working full time to help secure the U.S.-Mexico border."

Sheriff Arvin West told the paper, "It became very clear to me that Mr. Seagal is not in this for the celebrity or the publicity. He's like the rest of us that live down here; he has a sincere passion for his country and he wants to do more to help." Seagal will reportedly begin his post in early 2012 with the title of "deputy chief to the chief deputy." (In other words, Steven Seagal is a real-life, albeit slightly more effective, Dwight Schrute.)

While department spokesman Gary Fleming said his time there likely won't be chronicled for the upcoming third season of Steven Seagal: Lawman ("The television aspect of what we're doing here is the last priority,") this ten-minute, super violent montage of Seagal cracking skulls should serve as an accurate depiction of exactly what it will be like:
