English: Aplonis Metallica (Metallic Starlings) feeding on the fruit of Ptychosperma elegans (Elegant Palm) in Cairns north Queensland. The starlings arrive from Papua New Guinea in August each year to breed in large colonies. The color of their eyes is remarkably similar to that of the fruit. |
