Description

Tadorna variegata, Paradise Shellduck, Pūtangitangi. Native to New Zealand. Female (white head, chestnut body) at the Karori Wildlife Sanctuary, Wellington New Zealand. (See also en:Karori Wildlife Sanctuary).

This pair seem to follow the same daily habit - the morning is spent at the lower dam, and the afternoon in the inlets near the bird hides at the upper dam.

Canon S2 with a Sony VCL-DH1758 1.7x tele conversion lens coupled via a Lensmate 58mm adaptor.

No post-processing except for reduction to 1024x768 with a little USM.
