What is a "proboscis monkey"?

The proboscis monkey, also known as the long-nosed monkey, is a primate species native to the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia. They are characterized by their unique appearance, with large, pendulous noses in males that can reach up to 7 inches in length. Proboscis monkeys are known for their distinctive potbelly and striking coloration, with males having a reddish-brown coat and females having a lighter, beige-colored coat. They are highly arboreal, spending most of their time in the trees and primarily feeding on leaves, fruits, and seeds. Proboscis monkeys are also known for their unique social structure, with males living in all-male bachelor groups and females living in multi-female groups with their offspring.
