Cryptomeria japonica 'Buckiscope' - Buckiscope Japanese-cedar
.
Common name: Buckiscope Japanese-cedar
Family: Cupressaceae (cypress family)
Distribution: Species native to Japan and southern China
Hardiness: USDA Zone 6
Life form: Evergreen tree
Comments: An evergreen shrub discovered growing as a vigorous mutation. The needle-like leaves are dark green. It is said to be semi-dwarf indicating it has potential of growing up to 10' in our area but probably not achieving this for many years, if ever. The foliage darkens to bronze-purple in winter. Use in the shrub border, in a screen or with other conifers for a great winter effect.
