Velvet Purple Coronet (Colombia)

Here’s one of my favourite hummingbirds from a trip I led earlier this year. These little beauties just erupt into glowing shades of purple, blue and green when seen from the right angle.

Gorgeous, Glenn, the color combination is wonderful. It’s nice to see you back on NPN given your incredible schedule. Your depth of field is outstanding on this image. I do find myself wishing for just a touch more room on the right and top. You didn’t mention where you were on your zoom, but backing off just a tad more might have done it.

By the way, I’ve really been enjoying your new Hummingbird book.

Very nice job on the color, detail, wing position, background, and perch. The depth of field works very well here. You are lucky to have enough light to be able to shoot at ISO 3200. Processing is impeccable.

Hi Glenn
This photograph just takes my breathe away, very cool.

Hi Glenn,
Superb image capturing the subject really showing off its brilliance - so great to see all the colors. Fine details and a great pose with the wings back and nice view of the eye. Really fine!

I have your hummingbird book and it is marvelous - incredible photography and comprehensive info. I have also been enjoying your youtube videos. I recently bought an R7 and you and Jan have been a big help.

Hi Glenn,
Very nice and very well done with the high ISO. Fine as presented…Jim

Those colors are awesome, Glenn.

Killer hummingbird photo, Glenn! I love everything about this image. Composition is perfect, colors are superb and nice crisp details all around. I’m very surprised that you stopped the wings so well at 1/1250! It must have already landed and wasn’t flapping so fast! A gorgeous photo! :+1:
