General Description
Back, wings, upper neck and face black. White underparts. Stripe of black on thigh. Bill black; eye blue-green. Juveniles are brown where adults are black, with a brown neck and brown eyes. Body up to 70 cm long.
Biology
Black-faced Cormorants are sedentary and nest in colonies on islands in Bass Strait. They feed on fish, for which they dive to depths of around 10 m.
Distribution
Southern mainland Australia and Tasmania.
Habitat
Coastal bays and rocky coasts.
