H 18.00: Paolo Fabiani, in dialogue with Angelika Stepken, presents the book ”Paolo Fabiani is Goku “, edited by Pietro Gaglianò, Gli Ori, Pistoia, 2021.
A book that traces forty years of the Tuscan artist’s work. Divided into thematic chapters, the volume takes us on an autonomous creative journey in dialogue with different materials, techniques and traditions. At the center of it all is Fabiani, who is Goku and possesses the Celestial Sphere: “The Celestial Sphere is said to be the most powerful weapon Goku can use, and Paolo, starting from Pratovecchio, has used it to give an opportunity to our collective consciousness. “Mariana Arienzale, artist and author of the text in the catalog.

“Memoria de la materia*” is an art project that follows the artifacts made in prison by Argentine political prisoners during the 1976-1983 dictatorship, highlighting the value of creativity as a method of survival and resistance. Creative practices that relate to the spirit of these stories will be activated with the audience during Kabaré.

“Common Views” is a participatory art project that focuses on communities’ relationships with place and landscape. David Behar-Perahia and Dan Farberoff speak about their work and the methodologies used, presenting some of the latest projects. At Kabarè, the “Assembly Tent” is installed as a nomadic space that triggers a discourse on displacement.
H 8:15 p.m.: Emiliano Anselmo and Sebastiano Benegiamo present ilPrisma
The founders of IlPrisma talk about the socio-cultural project created in 2021 for the Le Piagge neighborhood of Florence. The organization wants to create, in a peripheral place, a program dedicated to the arts, open to experimentation and study.
Common Views
is a collective founded in 2019 by artists David Behar Perahia and Dan Farberoff (Florence, Berlin) and collaborates with artists, researchers and activists. “Common Views conducts site-specific process-based projects, addressing issues related to the local context, within a broader socio-ecological and sharing perspective. Their working methodology evolves over the course of the projects, from work with Bedouin communities in the Negev desert to projects activated in Poland and Germany. They recently presented their work at “Documenta 15” in Kassel.
Paolo Fabiani
born in 1962, lives in Montevarchi. Since 2016 he has been the artistic director of Stand Up For Africa, contemporary art for human rights. In ‘90 and ‘91 he participated in the XXXIII and XXXIV Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto; in ‘92 he was invited to Gibellina by Achille Bonito Oliva for the Orestiadi. In ‘96 he is at the XII Quadriennale in Rome and at the National Museum Of Contemporary Art of Seoul; in 2005 Pitti Immagine commissions him a large installation for the Fortezza da Basso in Florence. In 2019 he exhibits at Villa Romana, Florence, with a double solo show together with Janet Mullarney. Of 2022 his solo show entitled “The Seven Samurai,” at the ME Vannucci Gallery, Pistoia, curated by Pietro Gaglianò.
Mariana Ferratto
Italian-Argentinian artist (1979) has as the core of her poetics the theme of identity. She has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
ilPrisma
is a socio-cultural project born in 2021 for the neighborhood on the northern outskirts of Florence, Le Piagge. The project aims to activate an artistic path in an environment lacking in stimuli and bring people closer to Art. The founders (Emiliano Anselmo and Sebastiano Benigiamo) have activated and organized exhibitions inside apartment buildings, in public spaces, and in schools always with the participation of artists.
Angelika Stepken
is a curator and author, living between Florence and Berlin. From 2006 to 2022 she directed the Villa Romana artist house (Florence); from 1998 to 2006 she was director of the Badischer Kunstverein, Karlsruhe. Since 1988 she has curated over 150 exhibitions and collaborations in Germany, Norway, Sweden, Poland, Slovakia, Italy, Albania, Turkey, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, China, Hong Kong, Mexico, Colombia, Senegal. She is the author of numerous catalog texts for international artists.
