Tomatillos are much like tomatoes and are often called husk tomatoes. This particular variety forms large green tomatillos. Each fruit grows in a papery husk enclosure on a single stocked plant. They are prolific growers and can be used in a wide range of dishes. Most commonly used for salsa verde or other Hispanic dishes.

Open pollinated means this plants flowers are fertilized by bees, moths, birds, bats, and even the wind or rain. The seed that forms produces the same plant the following year. 

All heirlooms are open pollinated, but not all open pollinated plants are heirlooms. Only a small fraction of the plant world is considered heirloom. This variety has a history of being passed down within communities and families as early as the 1700's, similar to the generational sharing of items like jewelry or furniture.

Determinate means the plant reaches it's maximum height and that the fruit tend to ripen at once, usually over a short 2 to 3 week period. 

Indeterminate means the plant continues to grow and produce all growing season until a hard frost hits and stops them in their tracks.
