January 15, 2021 - Somali Bee-eater (Merops revoilii)

Found in parts of Somalia, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Kenya, these small bee-eaters inhabit savannas, shrublands, grasslands, deserts, and other arid habitats. Usually foraging alone or in pairs, they eat flying insects, which they catch in short flights from perches. They build their nests in holes dug into banks, cliffs, or the sides of wells.
