Magellanic Penguin Spheniscus magellanicus
Native Range:
South America
Notes:
South America's counterpart and look-alike to Africa's African Penguin; not all penguins live in ice-covered areas of Antarctica; indeed, many penguins live in temperate regions and probablty never see ice in their lives; this species is a good case-in-point, being found in southern South America typically in waters about 60 degrees Fahrenheit; nests in crevices along rocky shores; feeds at sea; no sexual dimorphism.
