Ash-throated Flycatcher, Myiarchus cinerascens

Ash-throated Flycatcher
This is the only one of the four similar Myiarchus flycatchers found in Northern California; it is a regular nesting summer visitor here. Its range overlaps with the Dusky-capped and Brown-crested in the Southwest; the Great Crested is normally found only in Eastern North America.

The undertail is mostly rufous with a brown tip, distinguishing Ash-throated from the two flycatchers it is likely
to be confused with; the Dusky-capped's undertail is solid brown, and the Brown-crested's has rufous running
all the way to the tip.
